Every Christian’s Testimony

Ephesians 2:1-7

Theme:  In Ephesians 2:1-7, Paul gives the details of every Christian’s testimony of God taking us from death to life.

The realities of life apart from Christ                            (2:1-3)

We were…

1.  Dead in our trespasses and sins                  (v. 1)

2.  Dominated by the world and Satan              (v. 2a)

3.  Disobedient to the will of God                     (v. 2b)

4.  Driven by our self-centered desires (v.3a)

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.  GAL 5:19-21

5.  Destined for wrath                                       (v. 3b)

The Realities of life united with Christ                                                  (2:4-7)

God has …

1.  Made known to us the depth of His mercy and love             (v. 4)

2.  Made us alive together with Christ                                       (v. 5)

3.  Made us forever recipients of His overwhelming grace        (vv. 6-7)

Questions for individual study and Fellowship Families:

1. How does Ephesians 2:1 describe the spiritual condition of people who are apart from Christ?

2. What does Ephesians 2:2-3 reveal about our lives before we entered into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ?  What are some examples of how we see this being manifested today?

3. Why did God rescue people who once were living in rebellion toward Him?

4. What has God done for those who belong to Christ, according to Ephesians 2:5-6?

5. What can believers learn about their future from verse 7?

6. In light of this passage, what have you learned about the grace of God?

7. Can you share your story of what God has done in your life?
