Our spiritual life is the source of spiritual leadership

"He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'" But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:38-39

There is a great thirst in peoples' lives for living water. That is why it is so important that we who believe in Christ are regularly renewed by the realities of our living Redeemer. Parched messengers are rarely persuasive proclaimers. But as we are fixed upon Jesus and filled with His Spirit, we find ourselves with abundant resources to lead and love those who are looking to grow in Christ.

Spiritual leadership is a function of spiritual living. The well from which we draw living water to give to others is our life with Christ. We give to others what we are receiving from Him. Wisdom, insight, discernment and encouragement are the results of believing in and being with Him. What we give out to others must begin within. Come regularly to the throne of grace and the King will give us what we need for His service. Even in our struggles, He gives us strength for today and a bright hope for tomorrow. Our spiritual life is the source of spiritual leadership.

Purpose

...shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness;
1 Peter 5:2

This weekly devotional is designed to give encouragement and insight on how to invest in the lives of others so that we can see every person made complete in Christ (Colossians 1:28-29). Each week we will explore a particular facet of personal discipleship in a format that is clear, concise and Christ-centered. The Lord has done the amazing for us and desires to bear much fruit through us. With this in mind, this ministry is designed to help develop people who will "make disciples" (Matthew 28:19-20).

We have been given LIFE in Christ so that His life may be manifested in us. It is a great joy for me to journey in this life in Christ with you.
